Ontario Student Assistance Program: OSAP for Micro-credentials

A selection of the School’s Professional Program certificates are eligible for OSAP funding when offered in their Intensive format.

The program study period must be less than 12 weeks to be eligible for OSAP for micro-credentials assistance. Our certificates are offered in a cohort model to ensure a deeper, more transformative learning experience than can be achieved through the traditional open enrolment programs. As a result, our certificates cannot be broken into individual courses for OSAP purposes.  

Eligible students in a micro-credential program that started after January 1, 2021 can apply for OSAP online through the OSAP website.  

  • Please note that program payments must be received in full by the posted deadlines. It is a student’s responsibility to pay fees in full, even if they are still waiting on the status of OSAP or other funding applications. Payments cannot be deferred or delayed. Register for the Certificate in Big Data Analytics (Intensive)

  • Total number of program hours: 216
  • Program fees: $6,270
  • Additional expenses (books/materials): Approximately $100 for required textbook

York’s Cyber Security bundle is eligible for OSAP as two individual six-week certificates. Students must apply for each program separately to be approved.

Micro-credential OSAP application deadlines:

Applications must be received no later than the last day of the study period. Supporting documents and review requests must be received no later than 5 days after the last day of the study period.

  • Students receiving Second Career funding for a micro-credential during their study period are ineligible; 
  • Although grants will not be converted to loans, a grant may become repayable if a student withdraws, is determined to be overpaid in grant funding, or income cannot be verified within one year; 
  • A student cannot receive OSAP for micro-credential assistance for their study period if it overlaps with another micro-credential study period in which they are concurrently receiving OSAP for micro-credential funding.  However, students may overlap their micro-credential study period with a study period that is part of a different full- or part-time program that they are concurrently receiving funding for through Full-Time OSAP or Part-Time OSAP, provided that OSAP funding was not assessed for the micro-credential course(s) through a Full-Time or Part-Time OSAP application.
