YUBridge Program

Online Delivery

• English language training is a weekly mix of live online instruction and additional online activities to support your participation in university academic culture.
• You will also be supported in a 2-hour live tutorial each week.
• Our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes are delivered through a Zoom video platform, and focus on essential English language skills including: reading, listening, writing and speaking.

Materials

You will need a computer with reliable, high-speed internet and a camera and microphone. YUBridge students will be expected to purchase textbooks for each of their academic credit courses.

Schedule

• 4 months per term
• 16 hours of  EAP instruction per week
• 4 hours of blended  ESP per week focused on your field of study (2 hours in-class and 2 hours online)

For-credit University courses:

• You can take up to three 3-credit university courses over the 2 terms
• classes require 3 hours per week
• Plus 2 hours of academic tutorials on the subject matter of the university credit courses

Out-of-class Timetable

The University Life program provides a range of co-curricular activities including:

• Conversation Partners
• Virtual campus activities with other members of the York community
• Online workshops on university life skills, including topics such as time management skills, applying for admission, and testing strategies
