Home » December 17, 2021 – Update on the Winter 2022 Term

Dear School of Continuing Studies students,

The health and safety of our community continues to be our highest priority. In light of recent guidance issued by the government of the Province of Ontario, and reduced activity on our campuses due to the completion of classes, York University will be limiting in-person campus attendance to those who are required to help complete the term, effective immediatelyPlease see the message from the President and Vice-Chancellor, Rhonda Lenton.

What does this mean for you as a student in the School of Continuing Studies?

From the start of term until January 23, all on-campus classes and services will be delivered in a remote format.

Our offices will open remotely on January 7. Your classes will start or (or resume if your program started on or before the Fall 2021 term) as previously scheduled. However, any on-campus activities will be delivered entirely online until January 24, 2022

While we wait for further information regarding Omicron, early data continues to support the value of vaccination against serious illness and all members of the community are encouraged to get their vaccine booster as soon as they are eligible.

The University continues to enforce the Vaccination Mandate policy.

Anyone attending York’s campuses will need to closely adhere to the University’s Vaccination Mandate policy and public health requirements outlined in the community of care commitment

IF your classes are 100% ONLINE, you cannot access campus for any reason unless you are fully compliant with  York University’s vaccination mandate by declaring your vaccination status, uploading proof of full vaccination (or approved exemption per the Mandate), and performing a daily screening on YU Screen.

IF some or all your classes are ON CAMPUS, the following ACTIONS are REQUIRED under York University’s vaccination mandate:

  • Before the program start date, you must declare your vaccination status and upload proof of full vaccination (or approved exemption per the Mandate), on YU Screen. Students who fail to comply will be automatically transferred to the Live Online classes. Please be sure to activate your Passport York account so you can login with Passport York.
  • Each time before you come to campus, you must complete a Screening on YU Screen and must be prepared to present your YU Screen clearance green checkmark in the classroom and anywhere services are accessed on the university’s campuses.

I want to thank everyone for your continued support, and I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season.

If you have any questions, we encourage you to access York’s dedicated COVID-19 webpage, which includes answers to FAQs as well as links to supporting resources.  For all other questions, please contact continue@yorku.ca

Sincerely,

Christine Brooks-Cappadocia,
