The Post‑Graduate Certificate in Digital Construction Management is not a traditional construction project management program. It is a digital‑first, technology‑driven construction program built for an industry that now relies on advanced tools, data, and modern building methods. Students develop core construction knowledge—materials, methods, scheduling, quality control, and estimation—while gaining hands‑on experience with Bluebeam, Autodesk, Procore, BIM, 3D modelling, and digital drawing interpretation. They also learn Modern Methods of Construction and apply LEED‑aligned sustainable building concepts that reflect the shift toward efficient, low‑impact construction practices.

The program culminates in a collaborative digital construction practicum where students plan and produce a full project package. Working in teams, they analyze challenges, assess risks, develop solutions, and communicate across diverse stakeholder groups. Practicum deliverables include project drawings, a preliminary estimate, a project schedule, and a professional report and presentation, all produced within safety and regulatory expectations including OSHA‑aligned standards.

Graduates leave prepared for roles that require digital fluency, modern workflows, sustainability awareness, and industry‑ready communication—skills that extend far beyond standard project coordination training. Students also earn 15 Gold Seal credits, accelerating their pathway toward national industry certification.

What our community is saying

The demand for skilled construction managers becomes more pronounced in Ontario and Canada as new projects are initiated to meet societal demands for residential and commercial construction. As a result, there is an increasing need for qualified construction management professionals. York University’s dynamic digital construction management program will prepare individuals to take on these in-demand roles by providing a blend of technical and managerial skills. Graduates will gain valuable experience in industry software tools as well as knowledge in sustainable building methods to meet modern environmental standards. Students will also gain practical leadership skills during hands-on assignments that provide real-world experience.
