Academic Credit English is an immersive academic English language training program that serves to prepare students for university success. Students attend language classes, tutorials, and at least one York University undergraduate course per term, pursuing subjects such as Liberal Arts, Science, Health, Performing Arts, and Media Design. In addition, students in Term 1 complete a Digital Foundations module that concentrates on academic study skills. In Term 2, students complete a Credit Course Success module concentrating on undergraduate degree excellence.
At A Glance
- Full program is 32 weeks with 25 hours of study per week
- 10 hours of in-class or online study
- Term 1: Digital Foundations module: five hours per week (self-study)
- Term 2: Credit Course Success module: five hours per week (self-study)
- Minimum of one York University undergraduate course per term for a total of six academic credits following the full program or nine academic credits for those taking two credit courses during the second term
- Credit course plus tutorials: five hours per week (self-study)
- Direct entry into Term 2 (16 weeks) is available to students with IELTS 6 or equivalent
- Successful completion fulfills York University language entry requirements
