Certificate in Family Mediation – Course Exemption Request Form

York University’s Certificate in Family Mediation will consider the following course exemptions:

CSFM1020 Family Law Registered and practicing family lawyers may be exempt if requested before program start.

CSFM1030 Family Relations: Registered Social Workers with extensive and recent training and experience with families may be exempt if requested before program start.

Please review the requirements from OAFM (the Ontario Associate for Family Mediation) and FDRIO (the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario) when considering an exemption request. Please note that these requirements for exemption will apply at the time when you apply for your accreditation.

Family Relations Exemption Documentation(Required)

Please provide an explanation of your request in the text box below and attach documentation verifying your eligibility for an exemption. We will consider an exemption for Registered Social Workers who bring extensive and recent training and experience working with families. The typical standard of proof for a course exemption from CSFM1030 is the following:

A transcript listing completed courses.
Proof of good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (or other provincial body).
A comprehensive account of your related education and training with regards to working with families, with dates indicated. (You may attach this as a document or type it in the field below).
A comprehensive account of your work experience with families, with dates indicated. (You may attach this as a document or type it in the field below).
