Join Program Manager Nicole Pereira and Instructor Dr. Miran Kenk for a special LIVE webinar:

“Opportunities and Challenges for Clinical Research in a post-COVID World.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally changed medicine in Canada and around the world, drastically altering how we conduct clinical research. This has challenged national and international regulatory frameworks established decades ago, requiring a quick pivot to new technological solutions. In this webinar, we will discuss the challenges faced by clinical research and how the application of ethical principles are not only meeting today’s demands, but benefitting science and increasing the accessibility and efficacy of clinical research overall.

About the speaker:
Miran Kenk, PhD, CCRP
Scientific Associate, University Health Network, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
Miran has over 12 years of experience in clinical research, conducting academic and industry sponsored clinical trials in oncology and neuropsychopharmacology. As a Scientific Associate with the Surgical Oncology Department of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, the largest oncology hospital in Canada and a global leader in cancer research, he oversees the conduct of a number of phase II and III clinical trials evaluating novel disease biomarkers and treatments. He is responsible for multi-site phase III studies and adaptive clinical trials accruing in both Canada and the United States.

Miran obtained a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine (Pharmacology) from the University of Ottawa followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. At CAMH and UHN, Miran worked closely with institutional and provincial Research Ethics Boards and Health Canada to implement appropriate documentation and procedures, including novel consenting approaches to accommodate specific participant populations and biobanking of samples for correlative research.
