November 18, 2021 – Winter 22 Full-Time Program Updates

This notice was sent to all register full-time students

Thank you for your interest in beginning a Post-Graduate Certificate with York University this January. Please note that at this time, we expect full-time programs which begin in January 2022 to be offered fully on-campus. Please carefully read the important information below.

Study Permits:

You will require a valid study permit in order to begin the program. Students who are not issued a valid study permit by January 13, 2022 will be de-enrolled from the Winter 2022 cohort and automatically deferred to the next available offering. If you are unable to obtain a study permit prior to that date and are not interested in deferring your offering, you will be eligible for a full refund.

Visas:

You can log into your student portal and upload your visa information in this area: https://continue.yorku.ca/visainfosubmission. Once you are done, please ensure you click the “submit application” at the bottom of the page. After it’s been submitted, you can check it under the “my applications” section of your student portal. If there is a green check mark next to “submitted”, that means we have received your information.

Travel from Outside Canada:

Please note that the Government of Canada has enacted travel restrictions.

When you have your travel arrangements in place, please notify our office at regscs@yorku.ca of your plans, which must include a plan for the Government of Canada mandated 14-day self-quarantine period. This means you will not have an opportunity to go grocery shopping or perform any other outdoor tasks to establish yourself in Canada.

As of July 5, 2021, fully vaccinated travellers may be exempt from some quarantine requirements. See Canada’s requirements for entry for fully vaccinated travellers for more details.

Health Insurance:

You will be required to have health insurance prior to immigrating to Canada. Our office will follow up with you regarding medical insurance in early December. It is mandatory for all international students to have health insurance coverage while studying within Canada. If you purchase your insurance coverage with us, your coverage date starts from the Saturday before the program start date and ends the Saturday after the program end date. If you plan to arrive to Canada prior to these dates, we strongly recommend you purchase your own insurance.

If you have your own personal insurance, you may qualify to cancel ours.  Please provide proof of insurance coverage that spans the entire length of your program before the end of the first week of your program to regscs@yorku.ca to qualify.

Access to Campus:

Anyone registered in our programs and/or accessing campus must upload their vaccination status. You must also follow the daily screening protocol on every day you come to campus.

If you have any questions, we encourage you to access York’s dedicated COVID-19 webpage, which includes answers to FAQs as well as links to supporting resources. Information Sessions will be held on October 28, 2021 and November 2, 2021 at 8am EDT. You can use this link to join either session to join either session

As always, our student’s safety and educational experience is our top priority. We will provide you with relevant institutional and public health updates as soon as they become available. Please note that our offices are closed from December 23, 2021 to January 6, 2022.
