Representing one of the largest talent shortages in Canada, data analytics opportunities are exploding in every sector—from marketing to financial services to professional sports. The Greater Toronto Area is at the epicentre of this talent gap, and employers frequently report that they cannot find qualified candidates and are heavily investing in retraining their workforce.
In this program, you will acquire foundational knowledge of data analytics and learn to apply it to your core profession. You’ll be prepared to suggest informed, data-driven business decisions to help lead change at your organization.
If you are currently working in analytics or a related field, the Big Data Analytics Program can train you to identify and leverage key opportunities to support your organization’s strategic objectives, making you indispensable to any employer. Becoming an expert in data analysis is invaluable in many industries. Even if you aren’t working in the analytics field, this program will help set you apart from the rest of the pack and enable you to grow your career options.
Suitable for individuals who want to acquire foundational knowledge of data analytics and apply it to their core industry such as Business, Finance, IT or Marketing.
Builds on the initial certificate to further develop the skills required for individuals to pursue a career in the field of Data Analytics.
The Certificate in Big Data Analytics as a stand-alone offer, and the bundle of the Big Data Analytics and Advanced Data Science & Pred. Analytics, are direct registration programs. No application process is required; simply enrol in the session of your choice to get started.
Courses combine asynchronous online learning with biweekly live classes with options to study On-Campus at York or Live-Online via Zoom.
The online delivery of course material is asynchronous, which means that while students have set deadlines to complete their work each week, they do not have daily required “live” class sessions. The live or “in-person” components are typically held at a scheduled day and time (e.g. biweekly on Tues at 6:45 p.m.) and take place on campus at York or Live Online via Zoom.
Students and instructors gather to participate in active learning activities, share their learnings in an interactive format and hear from guest speakers. The live, instructor-led online sessions will allow you to learn and interact with fellow students and with industry experts who are leaders in their field, while our asynchronous coursework gives you the flexibility to study part-time and balance family, work, and other commitments.
