Accounting Full-Time and Part-Time Post-Graduate Certificates

Information security, also known as cyber security, is a rapidly growing field.

York University’s stackable certificates in Cyber Security Fundamentals and Advanced Cyber Security will prepare you for a career in information security and help you earn your CISSP designation faster.

Our program is recognized for its quality and innovation, and it was the recipient of the 2018 CAUCE Program Award of Excellence.

Program Description

Certificate in Cyber Security Fundamentals

This certificate explores the fundamental knowledge required to help you be a more effective IT manager and to more effectively lead project teams. Students who plan to earn the CISSP designation can choose to continue on to the Certificate in Advanced Cyber Security right away or take a break and enrol in a later cohort.

Certificate in Advanced Cyber Security

The Certificate in Advanced Cyber Security builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in the first certificate to develop managerial competencies and a more thorough understanding of the eight knowledge areas required for the CISSP designation.

The curriculum aligns with the (ISC)2 body of knowledge and covers all eight domains that make up the field of cyber security:

  1. Security and risk management
  2. Asset security
  3. Security architecture and engineering
  4. Communications and network security
  5. Identity and access management
  6. Security assessment and testing
  7. Security operations
  8. Software development security

Choose the format and schedule that fits your needs:

Part-Time

  • Format: Part-Time, blended
  • Delivery: Online coursework + required live online sessions
  • Live Session Schedule: 3 weekends per certificate – (Sat & Sun)
  • Program Length: 10 months total
    • Cyber Security Fundamentals (5 months)
    • Advanced Cyber Security (5 months)
  • Term Starts: Winter (Jan), Summer (May), Fall (Sep)

Short Intensive

  • Format: Short Intensive
  • Delivery: Online coursework + required live online sessions
  • Live Session Schedule: Weekday evenings
  • Program Length: 12 weeks total
    • Cyber Security Fundamentals (6 weeks)
    • Advanced Cyber Security (6 weeks)
  • Term Starts: Winter (March), Summer (July)

York’s Cyber Security Intensive bundle is eligible for OSAP as two individual six-week certificates. Students must apply for each program separately to be approved. For more information, please visit our OSAP for micro-credentials page.
